In frame of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) 2024 Annual Meeting and Business Forum, Synopsys Armenia President Dr. Yervant Zorian took part in the country panel “Armenia: Democratic state, fair society and knowledge-based economy that generates innovation” with participation of Mr. Hakob Arshakyan, the Vice President of National Assembly of Armenia / Ազգային ժողով, Mr. Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, the Minister of ՀՀ բարձր տեխնոլոգիական արդյունաբերության նախարարություն (High-tech industry ministry High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia), Ms. Zhanna Andreasyan, the Minister of ՀՀ կրթության, գիտության, մշակույթի և սպորտի նախարարություն (Ministry of Education science culture Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia), and Dr. Noubar Afeyan, the Founder & CEO of Flagship Pioneering and Co-founder and Chairman of Moderna. The panel was moderated by Mr. Pegor Papazian, the CDO at TUMO Center for Creative Technologies.

Dr. Zorian covered the importance of microelectronics as the backbone for AI and all other electronic products. He also spoke about the need for education and human capital preparation and capacity building.

Answering the question about chips act and the role of Armenia Dr. Zorian emphasized Synopsys Armenia educational curriculum and its potential use in chips act programs.

It’s noteworthy that the Minister Ms. Zhanna Andreasyan explicitly mentioned the collaboration that the Ministry has with Synopsys highlighting the school level AI courses currently used in several schools in Armenia.
